LOL I had this scheduled for 8am today - or so I thought. Went to post on Twitter and it wasn’t published.

Saturday in Chicago was absolutely beautiful so I spent most of the day hanging with friends, drinking, smoking and playing catch. My arm is sore today and I’m a little sunburnt. That meant I was not very tuned in for the early games outside of checking a few games on my phone. But I was locked the hell in for Kansas State-Cincinnati and Oregon-USC. And I have thoughts about the Cincinnati offensive line.

If you’re in the group chat, you’ve heard this. But the Cincinnati offensive line features three future NFL players, all on the left side. Left tackle Joe Cotton, left guard Evan Tengesdahl and center Taran Tyo. I talked about the trio on the Draft Professors podcast prior to the season. To me, Cotton is the best offensive tackle in the Big 12 and Tengesdahl has the potential to be a top 50 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

The too long story is Kansas State fans across the country melted down (rightfully so) as the Bearcats meticulously accumulated 275 rushing yards against the K-State defense. The Wildcats led early but eventually Cincy’s offensive line took over and running backs Gi’Bran Payne and Cole Tabb each rushed for over 120 yards. It was too easy.

A brutal day for Collin Klein and the Wildcats. This is a team that was starting to creep into national conversations. Everyone is going to write the Cats off after this loss, but I don’t think the season is over. K-State still has to play Houston and Oklahoma State, while avoiding the “Big 3” of Texas Tech, Utah and BYU. It’s a favorable schedule and Cincinnati might be the most difficult road contest this season.

I hate when K-State loses. That shit was frustrating just watching an admittedly elite offensive line pummel us for 60 minutes. By the way, Texas Tech’s LB Austin Romaine (former Wildcat) had two interceptions he returned for touchdowns.

If you guessed the Wildcats are no longer in my top 25, you’d be correct!

As for USC, I’m keeping them inside the top 25 despite the national blunder against Oregon on Saturday evening. The big drama was the hit on Oregon QB Dante Moore that left him frozen on the ground for what felt like forever. All the time Moore was down, USC’s Desman Stephens II was celebrating the play he just made. He was opening smiling and doing handshakes with teammates throughout the injury timeout. I’m not one to say “have some class” but I don’t fuck with injuries. It’s the worst thing that can happen in the game of football, and it was just completely unnecessary. It was almost poetic hat backup QB Dylan Raiola, who seems to have given up the Patrick Mahomes impersonator persona, entered the game and kicked the ever living shit out of the Trojans.

Stephens was suspended one game by USC for the incident, a punishment that isn’t enough in the eyes of many prominent TV analysts. Even if it’s Paul Finebaum who should’ve gave up the hair and went bald like me 30 years ago. Anyway, I digress.

Another player that was suspended in South Carolina’s Dylan Stewart. This coming after he was seen yelling at and ignoring coaches at various points in the Gamecocks’ loss to Alabama. And then he threw three punches at an Alabama player. You’re probably wondering why the player had his helmet off.

He didn’t. I swear these dummies that are punching facemasks are so incredibly stupid. It literally hurts your hand more than it does them.

Stewart was a surefire first rounder by many analysts. This changes things. As a former #angryathlete I’m going to take a deep dive into this situation over the next couple of weeks. I’m hoping to get some more information, but it’s a fascinating development in an EDGE class that lacks depth.
