CFB WEEK 0 RECAP

The best things I saw over the weekend didn’t only come from FBS football. NAIA, Division II and FCS dominated the weekend; here are my favorite storylines from Week 0:

  1. Friday night lights in San Luis Obispo, California — Cal Poly led Idaho 21-16 at the end of the third quarter, and then I turned on the game. Over the final 15 minutes, the teams combined for 35 points in a back and forth shootout. Idaho tied the game at 24 before taking the lead on a 75-yard touchdown pass. Cal Poly looked like they had blew the game, trailing 34-31 with 1:03 left on the clock. Enter QB Anthony Grigsby Jr. He led the Mustangs on a 77-yard game-winning drive, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds left. He finished the game with 319 yards and 4 touchdowns.

  2. Ohio Dominican stuns Morehead State — A Division II program taking down an FCS opponent is a win in itself, but it’s HOW ODU got it done against Kenneth Faried’s alma mater. Up 28-12 going into the 4th quarter, the Panthers blew the late lead forcing overtime. After a scoreless first overtime, Morehead State struck but missed the two-point conversion to give them a 40-34 lead. On 4th and 12, QB Carson Parker delivered the game-tying touchdown. They missed the two-point conversion but Parker successfully ran it in for 2 points in the final overtime to give the Panthers a wild 42-40 victory.

  3. William & Mary scores 13 points in final minute — This was a huge upset with William & Mary storming back to take down FCS No. 8 Villanova. The Tribe trailed Nova 32-22 with 2:43 to play. They kicked a field goal with under a minute left, recovered the onside kick and with 22 seconds left scored the game-tying touchdown pass. Inexplicably on the ensuing possession, Villanova’s QB threw an interception which gave The Tribe a chance at the game-winning field goal which Max Lipinski (my non-biological cousin) drilled from 45 yards out.

  4. North Dakota State wins its first FBS game — The Bison are going to be a problem this season. They looked good in their first game as an FBS program, dominating Jacksonville State, 33-7. I present you with the first FBS touchdown in North Dakota State history.

  1. Louisiana Christian becomes first NAIA school to beat a scholarship Division 1 program — I want the record to show that while this is unbelievable… is it? Northwestern State fucking suuuuuuucks. NSU is 1-29 in its last three seasons. Shout out to Louisiana Christian, this really is remarkable. But you gotta cut the football program if you’re Northwestern State.

  2. DraftKings suspended my account through December — As many of you know, I formerly worked for both the NFL and the Denver Broncos. So gambling hasn’t been an option for me, not that I was ever very into it. But I’ve been trying to get into my locked DraftKings account and finally connected with support. I’m not able to unlock my account until at least December 23 due to my previous involvement with the NFL. It’s kind of annoying, but I do respect the policy. There’s no place for gambling ruining the integrity of the sport we all love. I’m just addicted to daily fantasy sports and feel I can actually win money doing those. After yesterday, I think I confirmed I’m not a spread guy (PAUSE). I went 2-6. Super Contest starts this week so I gotta lock in.

MOCK DRAFT 1.0 - PRESEASON

I’ve been on record stating multiple times I think Darian Mensah has a great opportunity to win the Heisman Trophy, lead Miami to a National Championship and fly up NFL Draft boards. He’s my pick to go #1 overall in the 2027 draft.

I have 4 total QBs going in the first round, but it will truly depend on the underclassmen. Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, CJ Carr and Drew Mestemaker are all left out of this mock draft because I think they are 2028 guys. But any one of them could have a dominant year and be a lock for the 2027 first round.

FOR THE GIRLS: DAEJON LOVE

There’s been a hilarious storyline in the NFL over the last few days. A 35-year-old man named Daejon Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan cheated 26 women out of $1.3 million in an elaborate investment scheme. Cheating people out of money isn’t funny, but cosplaying as a fake NFL superstar and pretending to be a Super Bowl Champion for the San Francisco 49ers is laugh out loud hilarious.

Look at this guy running routes at the beach. His fake quarterback underthrows the ball in the beach wind. I’m crying.

The internet is split on whether or not the girls should’ve known. I’ll let you guys watch him sign his contract and decide. LMAO

I obviously do feel bad for anyone losing their money to internet scams… but my god… how could you possibly fall for this? Stay safe out there ladies 😂
