MOCK DRAFTS MEAN NOTHING

Mind you, this was a Post Scouting Combine mock draft where I did 3 rounds. The combine ended 4+ weeks ago. He commented this today. It’s almost April!

I’m not breaking news by saying this, but I have to remind the people. This happens EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. The weeks leading up to the draft start to create some wild narratives especially if you’re in draft space and primarily consume draft content.

Ty Simpson is not a better QB prospect than Fernando Mendoza. Not by any model that utilizes numbers, film, size, athleticism, context or personality traits. Keep in mind the person driving this narrative is still looking for an open receiver (Megatron is on the field).

Dan Orlovsky hilariously runs out of the back of the end zone

MY TO-DO LIST

Here’s what I’m trying to finish up because it’s already March 30, and we are about 3 weeks away from the 2026 NFL Draft.

  • QBs - Add awards + watch Carson Beck & Cade Klubnik

  • RBs - Watch Noah Whittington & build final board

  • WRs - Add RAS scores + watch De’Zhaun Stribling, Chris Bell and John Michael Sturdivant

  • TEs - Watch Will Kacmarek and Rohan Jones (shoutout Ryan Sparks!) - I posted my top 10 Tight Ends on YouTube!

  • IOL - finalize film grades - should be my next position done after RB

  • OT - everything

  • DT - PFF grades + awards + watch Gracen Halton, DeMonte Capehart and Rene Konga

  • EDGE - everything

  • LB - finalize film grades - very close to done, top 5 won’t change

  • CB - Add awards + grind film. I’ve basically only graded D’Angelo Ponds & Avieon Terrell

  • SAF - Height/Weight + watch Xavier Nwankpa, Cole Wisniewski & Lorenzo Syles Jr

That may seem like a lot, and that’s because it is! I’m a world-class procrastinator so now it’s time to lock the hell in.

FINAL RANKINGS & MOCK DRAFT

More prospect rankings are on the way with my final big board coming Wednesday, April 22. I’ll post my final mock the morning of the draft while I’m riding in the car for 7 hours heading home for a close friend’s wedding.

This unfortunately means you won’t see much draft coverage from me during the actual draft outside of XTwitter.
