ELITE BOUNDARY NFL CORNERBACKS

We have a great week of football ahead but I’m packing for New Orleans, so this is going to be a quick one.

Late last night, the Steelers traded Joey Porter Jr to the Cowboys. Porter hasn’t been playing this season due to a contract dispute/injury - whatever you’d like to call it. It’s really weird to see Dallas investing so heavily in this season. Their defense really needs an outside corner, and Porter is one of the best young corners in the league. I think the Cowboys-Texans is one of the biggest Week 4 matchups. Dallas needs a win to get back to 2-2, while the Texans are looking to avoid an 0-4 start. I don’t think Porter plays in this game, but getting back to .500 drastically improve the Cowboys playoff chances while the Texans are effectively eliminated if they lose. Only one team has ever made the playoffs after starting 0-4 - the 1992 Chargers.

I already had most of this section written when the news broke, so let’s keep on the subject of boundary corners.

I wanted to do something a little different this week and take a look back at an article I wrote last draft cycle about elite boundary cornerbacks. The Carolina Panthers are down both outside/boundary corners in Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, a pretty damn good duo. Because of that, Will Lee III will get the start. He started his career at Kansas State before transferring to Texas A&M and helping them to the College Football Playoff.

Lee is one of a handful of corner prospects I evaluated in the 2026 NFL Draft that fits the majority of the criteria which make up elite boundary corners. I took a sample data set of some of the best corners from my lifetime and looked for similarities in their height/weight/speed profiles to try and determine the next way of great cornerbacks.

What I found was the following: There is absolutely a threshold for elite boundary cornerback play from a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) perspective, along with specific measurements. I found the research really fascinating as I was doing it in April, and I hope you do too.

Make sure you read all the way through for my updated NFL Power Rankings and Super Contest picks before opening 😉

WEEK 4 NFL POWER RANKINGS

I saved all the Chiefs fans reading this having to hear me talk about the Broncos epic comeback on Sunday Night Football on Monday morning.

Well… Happy Thursday bitches! I simply don’t care about anything other than winning. And the Broncos win games. Mostly at home, but we win games. Denver just beat two of the top teams in the league over the past two weeks in the exact same way: huge second half comebacks.

It’s not sustainable at all. It’s not. But the haters and losers, of which there are many, can go ahead and sustain deez nuts.

Broncos top 5 in the league!

  1. San Francisco 49ers (3-0, W 36-30 vs Cardinals) ⬆1

  2. Buffalo Bills (3-0, W 24-16 vs Chargers) ⬆1

  3. Kansas City Chiefs (3-0, W 24-10 vs Dolphins) ⬆1

  4. Seattle Seahawks (2-1, L 31-33 at Commanders) ⬇3

Game of the Week: Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers — A rematch of the biggest blowout in Super Bowl history. In Super Bowl XXIV, the 49ers beat the Broncos 55-10. This made the Broncos 35 and 32 point losses in Super Bowl XXVIII and XXII seem like walks in the park. Brock Purdy is playing at an elite level right now. If the Broncos don’t wake up sooner in games, they aren’t going to be able to beat quality teams like San Fran. Bo Nix is really damn good in the second half and 4th quarter though, isn’t he? Kind of wild.
