Week 6 of the NFL season has arrived, and we have a couple “surprise” contenders in the AFC. I say that in quotes because I picked the Jags as a playoff team in my preseason predictions. The New England Patriots went on the road to Buffalo on Sunday night and took down the big, bad Bills. Just 24 hours later, the Jacksonville Jaguars went toe-to-toe with the AFC’s best as QB Trevor Lawrence outdueled QB Patrick Mahomes and led an improbable game-winning touchdown drive. The wins put the Patriots at 3-2 and the Jags at 4-1.

There are a few big matchups this weekend, highlighted by the Detroit Lions heading to Arrowhead on Sunday night to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. With a loss in that game, the Chiefs would fall to 2-4.

San Francisco travels about as far across the United States as they can go to take on Tampa Bay, who secured a huge win against the Seahawks last weekend. The battle of the 4-1 NFC teams is likely to have long-lasting playoff implications.

Division rivalries are heating up as well with the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Cleveland Browns, and Thursday Night Football between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. RB Saquon Barkley will look to have another huge performance against his former team.

Monday Night Football features two games in week 6 with the Buffalo Bills looking to bounce back in Atlanta, while the Chicago Bears travel to our nation’s capital in a revenge game after QB Jayden Daniel‘s Hail Mary lifted the Commanders to a victory last season, derailing Chicago’s season.

The SuperContest Picks & Why:(Steelers -5.5 vs Browns)The Cleveland Browns started the season with QB Joe Flacco at the helm, but his play forced a QB change to rookie Dillon Gabriel, who made his debut in London last Sunday. Flacco is now on the move to Cincinnati, and the Browns lost a veteran QB voice in the locker room. The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a hot 3-1 start coming off a bye with a division rival at home. Give me A-Rod.

Can you believe

got fined $100,000 for his altercation with

on the sidelines after he dropped the ball prior to the goal line? Honestly what an insane fine. I expect the Cards to bounce back even in a road environment against a scorching Colts team that beat the Raiders 40-6 last week. Close game, Colts probably win.

I’ve rode with the Seahawks in my SuperContest two of the past three weeks, with a 2-0 record. I’m going to continue riding the back of

. It will be a tough test against a Jaguars team coming off an emotional comeback win over the reigning AFC Champs on Monday Night Football. I think the Seahawks will be motivated to bounce back after giving up 38 points to an injury-ridden Tampa Bay offense.

The Bucs are down a few key members of their secondary, and

has been flourishing in

‘s offense with

sidelined. Even with three WRs injured for San Fran, different guys like

have stepped up, and the team could potentially see

return. I also think

and rookie

will make it difficult on Tampa’s offense.

Something about Atlanta coming off a bye week with a home game against a Bills team that lost on Sunday Night Football to the New England Patriots gets me excited. Buffalo’s defense has struggled, and the Falcons have playmakers all over the field led by

and

The Bills could very easily bounce back and get a win, but at +4.5 I’ll take the Falcons to cover.

I’ll use these blogs to keep track of my 2025 picks. Best of luck to all those using these or fading me. FOOTBALL. IS. BACK.

Disclaimer: I’m not the best pick-maker the word has ever seen, but I do have a winning record over the 2023 & 2024 seasons of 261-227-15. If we remove all ties/pushes, that’s a 53.5% win rate. That’s certainly better than having a losing record. Now for the pick format, the SuperContest consists of any 5 games in a given week. The SuperContest games will have a *

I will not be picking any Broncos games this year as another FYI.
