For the record, I took the New Mexico State +2.5 vs Sam Houston State pick off from the original draft of these picks I started on Wednesday when the weekly card came out. As I’m about to post this, it’s currently halftime and the Aggies lead 10-3. That’s called integrity, you’re welcome.
There are two massive matchups this weekend. One takes place in the ACC where Miami QB Carson Beck and potential first-overall pick, EDGE Reuben Bain Jr., look to give the Hurricanes a clear path to the ACC Championship game as they travel to Tallahassee to take on FSU QB Tommy Castellanos and company.
The other takes place in Tuscaloosa in a rematch of last year’s shocking upset led by QB Diego Pavia and TE Eli Stowers. No. 10 Alabama and first-year QB Ty Simpson look for revenge against No. 16 Vanderbilt in a game with critical SEC implications. Bama looks to be back on track after a gritty road win against No. 12 Georgia, but they have a tough task against an efficient Vandy offense.
The SuperContest Picks & Why:(Navy -11.5 vs Air Force) The military matchups are some of my favorites every year. Navy is led by QB Blake Horvath who has accounted for more than 850 yards this year. Horvath leads the Midshipmen with 5 rushing touchdowns while adding 3 more through the air. Air Force has lost each of its last three games by an average of 12.0ppg. I think that continues en route to the Falcons’ fourth-straight loss. (Iowa State +1.5 at Cincinnati)Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby is one of the most efficient QBs in the country right now, but he will have to deal with a pesky Iowa State defense that is only allowing 14ppg this season. The Clones will be down CB Jontez Williams and S Jeremiah Cooper, but I like QB Rocco Becht and the offense to make enough plays to get a big road win. The Cyclones can cement themselves as a true contender in the Big 12. (Ohio State -24.5 at Minnesota)Ohio State’s defense under new DC Matt Patricia has gotten even better than the National Championship squad a season ago. They are allowing just 5.5ppg. That includes games against Texas and QB Arch Manning, as well as last week’s 18-point win over Washington with NFL guys all over the field in QB Demond Williams Jr., RB Jonah Coleman and WR Denzel Boston. (Central Michigan -8.5 at Akron)The Chippewas are an odd team with QB Joe Labas leading the team with 560 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns and just one interception. Quarterback, yes that’s right, QB Angel Flores leads CMU in rushing with 289 yards and 2 touchdowns. The dual QB offense should give Akron’s defense major trouble, as the Zips are allowing more than 32ppg, 14th-worst in FBS. (Miami -4 at Florida State)I simply don’t know how FSU lost last week, but the fact that they did tells me they aren’t quite there yet. This game comes down to the one-man wrecking crew that is Miami EDGE Reuben Bain Jr. The 6’3 270-pound D-lineman has been terrorizing opposing offenses all season, posting 22 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks and an interception. He leads the country with a 92.3 PFF among players with 100 or more pass rush snaps and ranks 9th with 15 hurries. (Texas Tech -11 at Houston)New OC Mark Leftwich has the Red Raiders grooving on offense. They average 573 yards per game and are scoring 52.0ppg, both rank 2nd in the country. The NFL Draft prospects are on the defensive side of the ball with LB Jacob Rodriguez and EDGE David Bailey leading the charge. Rodriguez has been the best LB in the nation so far this season, posting a 91.8 PFF defense grade, a 96.0 PFF run defense grade and an 85.4 PFF coverage grade. Bailey has an 88.2 PFF pass rush grade with 3.0 sacks.(UAB +7 vs Army)UAB QB Jalen Kitna, a near child sex offender and the son of former journeyman QB Jon, leads the Blazers with over 1,200 yards of passing, 8 touchdowns and just 3 INT. In the only win of Army’s season, the Black Knights possessed the ball for more than 40 minutes. RB Jevon Jackson is averaging 5.5 yards per carry and I like Kitna (not personally on account of the child porn), Jackson and UAB to win the possession battle at home.

For the college SuperContest, you pick any 7 games you want. Extremely simple. Purely for my own entertainment, I’m going to pick every single game on the card with a heavy emphasis on tracking my Big 12 picks since I’ve established myself as a Big 12 guy.
I will be posting my NFL picks prior to the TNF game each week, and the college picks will come out on Fridays unless there’s a Thursday game on the card and sometimes I’ll just skip Thursday honestly.
Another reminder, these are not bets I will be placing myself. I do this purely for fun.
