Week 4 of the college football season is here, and it’s almost like a pseudo rivalry week with conference realignment. New(ish) Big 10 members Oregon and Washington both travel to their in-state respective rivals, the lone members of the PAC-2. Miami and Florida will also meet in another rivalry game.
Conference play also kicks off this week with some huge matchups around college football. A lot could be decided in the Big 12 as last year’s champs, Arizona State, travel to Baylor. Texas Tech travels to Utah in one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. Auburn will travel to Oklahoma, while Michigan takes on Nebraska in Lincoln. And Illinois travels to Indiana in a pivotal Big 10 matchup.
For those counting at home that’s QB Sawyer Robertson vs QB Sam Leavitt, QB Behren Morton vs QB Devin Dampier, and my personal favorite matchup QB Luke Altmyer vs QB Fernando Mendoza. And in non-draft eligible news, QB Bryce Underwood vs QB Dylan Raiola.
It’s sure to be a great week around college football, here are my picks!
The SuperContest Picks & Why:(Rutgers +2.5 vs Iowa) Rutgers QB Athan Kaliakmanis has been playing outstanding football through three weeks and has the highest passing grade on PFF. He has thrown for 820 yards, 7 touchdowns and has a perfect QBR. With Iowa down some top skill players, I like Greg Schiano & Rutgers to get it done. (Miami -7.5 vs Florida)Led by QB Carson Beck, Miami looks like the clear cut favorite in the ACC. Florida just saw DT Caleb Banks return from injury only to exit the LSU game with a fairly significant injury. Give me Beck and the Hurricanes at home.(Bowling Green +26.5 at Louisville)I like what QB Miller Moss & WR Chris Bell have done so far this season, but they have an offensive line that has underperformed so far. Led by HC Eddie George, the Falcons are fresh off a huge win at Liberty where they forced 5 turnovers. (Duke -2.5 at NC State)After back to back losses against No. 9 Illinois and Tulane, the Blue Devils and QB Darian Mensah need a bounce back. I love the Duke defensive line, with 5,000+ career snaps played, matchup against an NC State offensive line that has been really struggling. (UCONN -21 vs Ball State)I like UCONN WR Skyler Bell, and he’s coming off a career high 11 catches for 105 yards. They are looking to get back to 2-2 on the season, led by 7th year QB Joe Fagnano. I don’t think Ball State is very good. (Notre Dame -25.5 vs Purdue)The clash of two Indiana titans, Purdue’s defense hasn’t given up a touchdown in the second half of a game this year. Notre Dame scored 17 points in the fourth quarter alone against Miami, and scored 16 second half points in the 41-40 loss to Texas A&M. I expect HC Marcus Freeman to have the Irish flying around and making plays. (Sam Houston State +39 at Texas)I’m simply riding against Texas QB Arch Manning at this point. They haven’t covered a spread yet this season, but the lines are staying high. I’m going to take the points here, but I expect the Longhorns to win comfortably.

For the college SuperContest, you pick any 7 games you want. Extremely simple. Purely for my own entertainment, I’m going to pick every single game on the card with a heavy emphasis on tracking my Big 12 picks since I’ve established myself as a Big 12 guy.
I will be posting my NFL picks prior to the TNF game each week, and the college picks will come out on Fridays unless there’s a Thursday game on the card.
